Can You Tell Me How To Get To Heaven?

Can You Tell Me How To Get To Heaven?

Consider this simple question.  If your child were to walk up to you and ask it, or a complete stranger, what would you say?  Here is a tract done with an old soul-winner, that may hopefully bless you, and give you that answer in case someone asks, or better yet if you need to know.

I need help.  You see, I want to go to heaven.  The problem is I can’t find people who can tell me how to know for sure I will go there.  Many have said I should live a good life, but they can't guarantee me it will work.  Others believe I need to think happy thoughts, but they aren't so happy when I asked if they knew for sure if that would work.

So, can you help me?  Do you know how to tell for sure?  If you do, you are definitely in the minority.  If you dont know, walk with me down the road of how I learned I could know for sure.  Here is what the ultimate authority, the Bible has to say about it:

Romans 3:10 – As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
Romans 3:23 – For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Romans 5:12 – Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Romans 6:23a – For the wages of sin is death;
Revelation 20:14 – 15 – And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.  And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

These verses showed me how to know for sure I wouldn't be going to heaven on my own power.  Yes, I knew I wasn't perfect, but had never thought about the penalty for sin.  It makes sense; only someone truly perfect could ever get into heaven.

Here is what I learned that gave me hope:

Romans 5:8 – But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 6:23b – but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 10: 9-13 – That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.   For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

God said whosoever, and that meant me. At that time I realized what I had been missing.  God had sent his Son to die on the cross for my, and your, sins.  He covered my sins so that I can get into heaven.  With his blood, I am perfect.  Isn't that great?  How did I take care of it?  All it took was a simple prayer.  I had to realize that I was a sinner, and that I couldn't earn heaven on my own.  I prayed to God and asked him to forgive me for all that I had done wrong, told him I knew I was a sinner, and told Him I believed that He sent His Son to die on the cross for my sins.  I then asked Jesus to save me and come into my heart.  You know what?  After I stopped praying, I knew something was different.  It was as if a great weight had been lifted off my shoulders.

Do I have to do it again?  No, the Bible is very clear about how salvation works.  Here are some questions I had:

How many times do I need to be saved?
Hebrews 10:10 – By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Will I ever be cast out?
John 6:37 – All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

Did He give me eternal life or just life in heaven for a few weeks?
John 10:28-29 – "And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand."  "My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Fathers hand.

Can anything separate me from the love of God?
Romans 8:38-39 – For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,  Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Does God want me to just think I have eternal life?
1 John 5: 11-13 – And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.  He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.  These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Why am I telling you all this?  Well, the Bible is pretty clear about that, too:
John 15:5 – " I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
Psalms 126:5-6 – They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.  He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.
James 5:20 – Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

My friend, if you couldn't tell me how to be sure of heaven, take what I have learned above and make sure you know you are on your way to heaven.  Dont delay, for you never know when you might end up not able.  Yes, this will change your life, but you will have a peace you have never had before and that empty feeling you have now wont be empty anymore.  Go ahead and pray now, you won't regret it.

Thank you for your time.  If you have said the prayer and we don't meet on this earth, I look forward to meeting you in heaven!!   Read your Bible, start with John and Romans, you will learn many things from them.  Read them several times and pray for understanding as you read and God will help you learn.  Get into a good Bible church and learn all the wonderful things God has in store for us, not just in heaven but also on this earth.  And, don't forget to share your good news with others!

1.YOU ARE A SINNER.
Romans 3:10 – “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:”
Romans 3:23 – “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
Romans 5:12 – “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”

2.     GOD HAS PLACED A PRICE ON YOUR SIN.
Romans 6:23 – “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Revelation 20:14 – 15 -  “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.  And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

3.     JESUS DIED TO PAY THE PRICE FOR YOUR SINS AND OFFERS SALVATION TO YOU AS A GIFT. YOU MUST RECEIVE THE GIFT.
Romans 5:8 – “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 10: 9-13 – “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. “  “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Trust Christ as your Saviour now by saying a simple prayer: “Dear Lord, I confess that I am a sinner and I need to be saved. I believe that Jesus died on the Cross to save me. Please forgive my sins, come into my heart, and save me.

4.     YOU CAN NEVER LOSE YOUR SALVATION!

John 10:28-29 – "And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” “My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. “
