As the world continues to push into churches, with churches and their pastors not able to discern sin any more, this question came to me. The question is, how do you tell if you belong to a discerning church?
It takes no time at all to quickly survey the pagan origins of Easter. It all goes back to Babylon, something all false religions do. This one is tied to Semiramis and her son/husband, Nimrod. From this story we learn about the origin of the egg and rabbits, and the name.
Later Semiramis became known as Ishtar. Ishtar and her many other names through history became the goddess of love, sex and all things related to this, including fertility. For those who have never raised rabbits, well, they are extremely fertile. A rabbit couple can produce over 70 offspring in a year. Those who raise them often find this out the hard way.
So, the rabbit is tied to the worship of Ishtar/Semiramis. How about the egg? Semiramis claimed to be immaculately conceived by the moon goddess. The moon, she taught, ovulated every 28 days and produced an egg when full. Semiramis' egg was lowered to the Euphrates river, and later became known as Ishtar's egg.
If you are wondering what happened to her son/husband, Nimrod was killed by an enemy and his body chopped into pieces and spread throughout the land. All were collected but one, his private parts. Per his mother/wife, he would be unable to be resurrected as a result, so was exalted to rule with the moon goddess. His new name was Baal. He shows his power in the flame of a candle.
Now, back to the starting question. If your church had you lighting candles, had an easter egg search, or gave out chocolate eggs or rabbits, well, you were worshiping Ishtar along with Christ. You see, the church of candle lighting, Catholicism, did to Easter what they did to Christmas. They took a pagan festival and named a Bible event on it. They missed Christ's birth by months, and his death by about a week. Pagans globally laugh at "christians" over this folly.
If you have a discerning pastor, today was about the old gospel hymns singing about Christ'a life and resurrection. No candles, no eggs, no rabbit, no paganism.
My goal here is to see how many true Bible believers, when faced with truth, practice Biblical maturity which is exhibited by discernment.
Hebrews 5:14, "But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil."
Your role is clear once you have seen the truth. Your maturity, if you see nothing wrong with pagan practices, should be something you work on. The Bible calls you a milk drinker, or immature Christian. Your time knowing Christ has no relevance to your maturity, so be wise and dig deeper into the Bible, praying God will open your eyes as you continue to learn with an open heart.
